Christ the King Litany

A Litany to Christ the King –   From the Readings for the Feast of Christ the King

Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.

[R] Have mercy on us.

God, our Father, You have made Your Son King for all ages (R)

God the Son, Jesus, our saviour whose earthly throne was the Cross, (R)

God, the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, (R)

Holy Trinity, Three Persons, yet One God in Eternal Unity, (R)

(R) Reign in our hearts

Worthy Lamb who was slain,
Lamb of mercy,
Lamb of power,
Lamb of wisdom and strength,
Lamb to whom belongs all honour and glory,

(R) May we serve you:

Son of Man coming from the clouds of heaven,

Son of Man, who has been given dominion,

Son of Man, who has been given glory,

Son of Man, who has been given kingship from the Father,

Son of Man, who is king of all peoples,

Son of Man, who is king of all nations,

Son of Man, who is king of all languages,

Son of Man, whose kingdom is everlasting,

Son of Man, whose kingdom shall never be destroyed,

(R) All Praise to You:

O king robed in majesty,

O king girded with strength,

O king who has redeemed the world,

O king whose decrees are sure,

O king who has made us a holy people,

O king, our Lord, for ever more,

(R) Amen:

Jesus the faithful witness,

Jesus the first born from the dead,

Jesus the ruler of the kings of the earth,

Jesus who loves us ,

Jesus who frees us from our sins by his blood,

Jesus who makes us to be a kingdom,

Jesus who makes us to be priests, serving the Father,

To Jesus be Glory and Kingship forever and ever,

Jesus who will come again,

Jesus whom every eye shall see,

Jesus who will reveal himself to those who pierced him,

Jesus who calls all to lament,

Jesus who is the Alpha and the Omega,

Jesus who is the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come,

Jesus the almighty one

(R) May we listen to your voice:

Jesus, of Nazareth, King of the Jews,

Whose kingdom is not from this world,

Conceived to be King,

Born to be King,

Born to testify to the truth,

King, proclaiming the truth to those who would listen,

The Lord who sits as King forever,

The King, the Lord who blesses his people with peace,

The King, who nourishes His people with His Body and Blood.

 All together say:

How worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and divinity, and wisdom and strength and honour.

To him belong glory and power forever and ever. Amen!   Alleluia!

Almighty ever-living God, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of the universe, grant, we pray, that the whole creation, set free from slavery, may render your majesty service, and ceaselessly proclaim your praise. Forever and ever. Amen!
